Chief Marketing Officer

SEEKING A DYNAMIC LEADER, MARKETING STRATEGIST, AND CHANGE MAKER.

Urban Intellectuals is seeking a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to join our team and help drive the growth of our business. The CMO will be responsible for overseeing the marketing strategy and execution for our products and services, including our Black History Flashcards, Games, Black History Club for Kids, Black Travel Movement, and our other products and initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for Black History and Black empowerment, as well as a strong marketing background and the ability to roll up their sleeves and get hands-on in the business. The CMO will work closely with our operations, sales, and product development teams to ensure that our marketing efforts are aligned with our business goals and objectives.

Urban Intellectuals makes it fun and easy to learn Black history. Our suite of products and services have been used by hundreds of thousands of people; now is the time for us to really scale our business and need to expand our team.

Time: 8 hours a day for 5 days a week
Location: 100% Remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Increase brand awareness and market share for Urban Intellectuals 
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy for Urban Intellectuals, including the identification of target markets and the development of marketing campaigns to reach those markets
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of marketing materials, such as branding, advertising, and promotional campaigns
  • Manage the company’s social media presence, including the development of social media campaigns and the creation of engaging content
  • Work with the sales team to create marketing strategies to identify and heighten awareness of Urban Intellectual’s assets, including the development of sales collateral and the management of lead-generation marketing materials
  • Collaborate with the product development team to identify product gaps in the market  and assist with the development of targeted marketing strategies to bring awareness and boost sales of new products
  • Work with the CEO and COO to conduct market research, sales forecasting, and strategic planning to assess and ensure the sale and profitability of products and marketing initiatives
  • Analyze market trends and customer data to inform marketing decisions and optimize marketing efforts
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, including the measurement of key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Manage the marketing budget and allocate resources effectively to maximize return on investment (ROI)
  • Design the marketing department’s overall strategies, the structure of the department, grow the key assets involved, and managing the process.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • 5 years of experience or more leading a marketing team
  • Collaborating and building consensus with cross-functional teams
  • A strong passion, enthusiasm, and belief in Urban Intellectuals’ mission and core values
  • Superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail  
  • Confidence to take ownership of the position and actively engage our team to drive growth
  • Skilled at leading multiple projects and priorities
  • Proactive ownership of the program and goals
  • The ability to lead independently
