“Exploring the Truth of Our Origins”
FREE ONLINE EVENT: Saturday, August 10, 1 PM – 4 PM EST
The cold, hard facts are we don’t know our history. We aren’t connected to heritage. We have lost our cultural identity.
Why?
Because it was STOLEN from us.
Do you know who you are? Are you connected to your deep, rich history?
Most likely, you had to answer no to one or both of these questions. And as much as it may have pained you, stick with me here because we have something special for you.
This is the year of change, so let’s make sure that we are doing something different. Instead of sulking in the despair of not knowing your history or being connected with your culture, let’s do something about it.
Let’s empower ourselves. Let’s feed ourselves. And let’s grow to be the source of understanding, inspiration, and the solution to what our families and communities need.
Go on a powerful experience at the Black History Symposium as we explore the theft of a people, continent, and history.

But let’s not dwell in this hole:
Let’s go on a journey. Discover how reconnecting with our roots can empower you, inspire your journey, and change everything you thought you knew about Black history and your responsibilities to future generations.
At Urban Intellectuals, we understand that the more you know the truth about real Black History, the more dangerous you will be in this eternal fight of miseducation, ignorance, and dependence on a system that has proven not to be feeding or serving us.
Instead of just talking about it, let’s BE ABOUT IT!!
We’ve taken the time to formulate an all-star lineup of historians, professionals, doctors, scientists, and people who are PASSIONATE about Black people and POURING into their spirits.
✔️ Enlightening Conversation: We are going beyond the typical conversations about race, history, and culture. We are digging into the archives to explore the depth of lies, exaggerations, and half-truths used to try and cover up the theft of people, resources, culture, and history.
✔️ Personal Empowerment: Discover your place in this world. Come closer to understanding your legacy and enhance your sense of self-worth and identity. A true grasp of history develops massive self-confidence and empowerment.
✔️ Inspiration and Motivation: Strengthen bonds with like-minded individuals and engage with a community dedicated to learning and growth.
✔️ Community and Connection: Acquire practical knowledge that you can apply in your everyday life to foster personal and collective growth.
✔️ Glorious Black History Knowledge: Acquire practical knowledge that you can apply in your everyday life to foster personal and collective growth.
The purpose of this event is to provide an engaging and insightful exploration of Black history, with a focus on the African diaspora, and reconnection, while uncovering the lies, deception, and theft of a people. Going deeper to figure out what this understanding does for you as a person and conduit to our future.
We aim to uncover gaps in your understanding of Black history and showcase the richness of our global contributions to humanity. A key goal is to introduce you to the power of Black history, your place in it, and your obligations for our collective future.
We will fill in your gaps of historical understanding, challenge some narratives that aren’t serving you, and provide practical solutions to help you move forward.
Assata Moore began teaching math and physics to elementary students at Sankofa Shule, an African-centered charter school in Lansing, MI, at the age of 18. Sankofa’s pedagogy was rooted in African philosophy, and teachers, or walimu, engaged in daily discussions studying scholars like Dr. Maulana Karenga and Dr. Molefi Asante. The school’s founder, Dr. Freya Rivers, fostered teacher development through conferences and travel, including annual trips to Egypt.
In 2005, Assata became the mathematics chair at Betty Shabazz International Charter School in Chicago. She later served as a principal at the University of Chicago, incorporating African-centered pedagogy and a Black Thought class.
Currently, she collaborates with Freddie Taylor of Urban Intellectuals to offer the Black Math Genius program, which emphasizes the African origins of mathematics.
Assata’s journey includes earning a mathematics degree from Michigan State University, partnering in a restaurant in her twenties, and achieving her retirement goal at 41 by investing in real estate. She also developed a program called “How to Get Your $H!T Together,” focusing on savings, health, investments, and time management.
For impactful, action-driven workshops on education and wealth building, Assata Moore is the speaker who inspires immediate change. Visit Sankofaclub.com/mathgenius for more information.
