Celebrate Black History in Florida
In sunny Florida, there are a lot of amazing Black history stories waiting to be told. There is a long list of people, and events in history of people who stood up for what’s right, helped their neighbors, and created things to make our lives better.
Challenging Misconceptions
But guess what? Governor DeSantis and his racist followers want to hide these stories like they never happened.
DeSantis has even said unbelievable things like, “Black people benefited from slavery.” This is absolutely ridiculous and one giant lie!
Do you want to know what the truth is? WHITE PEOPLE BENEFITED FROM SLAVERY AND STILL DO TODAY. This is why DeSantis can stand on stage in front of America and make asinine comments like this and not be run out of town.
People in his camp don’t want schools to teach about Black history, the Black contribution to humanity. They are taking away books and more to hide the truth and the full narrative of what has happened on this planet and in Florida. That’s not fair, right? Everyone should know about the brave people from the past, especially the young hearts ready to take on the world. They deserve to be inspired.
I wouldn’t call them superheroes, but the amazing team at Urban Intellectuals said, “Enough of this nonsense!” They knew these stories of Black history, heroism, and excellence were like gold to the people and community. They came up with a plan to share them with everyone. They made a special edition of Black History Flashcards for Florida to highlight Floridians’ contribution to not only this country but the world around them. Each card tells a story of a Black hero, a place, or an event from Florida’s past.
These cards are like little lights to brighten up the dark spots where Florida’s Black history is hidden. They’re inviting everyone, especially the children in these deprived schools in Florida, but also around the country and world, to open this box, learn about these heroes, and share their stories. It’s like handing out maps to find hidden treasures to everyone curious enough to look.
This is not just to show the racist Governor, but to tell everyone about the awesome Black people who shaped Florida, the United States, and the world. It’s a big call to everyone, not just in Florida but everywhere, to join this mission. Let’s learn about these amazing Black individuals together.
This is more than a campaign; it’s a big move to uphold truth, share knowledge, and show Governor DeSantis and others that the truth cannot be hidden.
We’re celebrating the incredible Black history of Florida, making sure these heroes’ stories are told, remembered, and cherished forever.

But with these new racist rules by the Governor and his cronies, it’s like telling a story with pages ripped out. Our flashcards will put those pages right back in and rewrite the narrative of history in Florida!
