What Is Sankofa Sundays?
Sankofa Sundays is Urban Intellectuals’ weekly programming experience designed to help our community understand history differently.
Every Sunday at 3 PM Eastern, we gather around Black history, current events, storytelling, and discussion to learn, reflect, and grow together.
Some Sundays feature powerful YouTube Premieres where the community can watch together and engage in the live chat. One Sunday each month features Sankofa Sunday Dinner, our live community conversation where Urban Intellectuals members are invited into the Zoom room and the public watches live on YouTube.

Sankofa Sundays brings together four powerful formats under one weekly programming block. Each show has its own purpose, but they all serve one mission: making Black history easy, meaningful, and alive.

The Sankofa Report connects today’s headlines to the deeper Black historical context behind them.
This is where we look at what is happening now and ask: How did history make this moment possible?
From education and politics to culture, policy, power, and resistance, The Sankofa Report helps our community see that current events are not random. They are connected to patterns, systems, and struggles that have shaped Black life for generations.

Big questions about history, power, culture, and identity.
Sankofa Questions is where we wrestle with the deeper questions our people need to ask.
This show is built around the conversations that do not always fit into headlines, classrooms, or quick social media posts.
We ask questions about Black history, education, identity, power, culture, liberation, and the future — then use history to help us think more clearly about the world we are living in.
Storytelling
Sankofa Stories
Black history reimagined through storytelling.
Sankofa Stories brings Black history to life through powerful storytelling.
These stories may use fictional characters, dramatic scenes, and imagined moments, but they are rooted in real historical truths.
The goal is to make history feel alive, emotional, memorable, and personal — because before it became history, it was somebody’s life.
Live Community
Sankofa Sunday Dinner
Live community conversation.
Sankofa Sunday Dinner is our live community gathering.
This is where the Urban Intellectuals community comes together to talk, reflect, ask questions, and be heard.
Urban Intellectuals members — including Sankofa Circle, Sankofa Club, and Sankofa Legacy members — are invited into the Zoom room for the deeper, interactive experience.
Everyone else can watch live on YouTube and engage through the comments. We may pull questions and reflections from the YouTube audience into the live discussion.
Members are at the table. The public is in the audience. Everyone is part of the movement.
