This is bigger than a fundraiser.

This is a community-powered response to a real moment. Black history, culture, memory, and political understanding are under attack. Urban Intellectuals exists to make sure our families, children, and communities still have access to the history they tried to erase.

We are at a critical time in the company’s history. With bills to pay, including payroll, rising pressure from tariffs, institutions pulling back from Black history, and attacks on honest education, we have to respond with urgency and purpose.

This campaign is about helping Urban Intellectuals stabilize, protect the work, and continue creating the tools our community needs — flashcards, books, classes, memberships, and resources that keep our history alive in homes, schools, churches, and communities.

We are in Phase 1

Phase 1 is our immediate action to protect the mission, protect the work, and keep the company operating.

We urgently need 1000 Defenders to give $100 to fulfill obligations and keep the lights on.

In return we are giving 100 days access for $1 per day as a bonus to our Sankofa Club (for kids) or Sankofa Circle (for adults) Black History memberships.

Phase 2, Phase 3, and Phase 4 will be implemented once we have secured immediate operations. From there, we can push toward stabilizing the company and planning for the future.

Is this a donation or a product purchase?

This is a donation to help save Urban Intellectuals from shutting down. Any contribution bonuses offered are thank-you items for your support and are not the primary purpose of the contribution.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

No. Urban Intellectuals is not currently processing these contributions as tax-deductible charitable donations. This is a community support contribution to help protect the work, mission, and operations of Urban Intellectuals.

Why are you asking for support right now?

Urban Intellectuals is in a critical moment. We are raising funds to meet immediate obligations, keep the company operating, protect the mission, and continue serving families, children, educators, and communities with powerful Black history education.

What is Phase 1?

Phase 1 is our immediate action phase. The goal is to have 300 people contribute by June 5th and 1000 overall to fulfill urgent obligations, keep the lights on, and protect the work Urban Intellectuals has built.

What happens after Phase 1?

Once immediate operations are secured, we will move into Phase 2, Phase 3, and Phase 4. These next phases will focus on stabilizing the company, strengthening operations, growing our membership programs, and planning for the future of Urban Intellectuals.

How do I choose Sankofa Circle or Sankofa Club?

If you donate at a level that includes Sankofa Circle or Sankofa Club as a bonus and a selection is needed, you can select on the form, or a follow-up email will be sent with next steps and instructions for making your selection.

What is Sankofa Circle?

Sankofa Circle is our adult Black history membership community, designed to help adults continue learning, discussing, and applying Black history, culture, and legacy in their everyday lives.

What is Sankofa Club?

Sankofa Club is our children’s Black history education program, created to help young people learn their history, build confidence, develop leadership, and stay connected to culture and identity.

How do I donate a different amount?

You can select the custom amount option on the donation form and enter the amount you would like to contribute.

How do I donate a different way?

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes. After your contribution is processed, you should receive a confirmation email or receipt using the email address provided during checkout or donation.

When will I receive my contribution bonus?

Contribution bonuses will be fulfilled after your donation is processed usually within 3-7 days. If your bonus requires a selection or additional information, we will follow up by email with the next steps.

What if I am already a Sankofa Circle or Sankofa Club member?

If your contribution qualifies for one of the membership bonuses, your current membership renewal date will be extended by the amount of bonus time included with your contribution.

Can I support even if I cannot give a large amount?

Yes. Every contribution matters. Whether you give a little or a lot, your support helps protect Urban Intellectuals, keep the mission alive, and ensure our community continues to have access to the history they tried to erase.

Absolutely. Sharing this campaign with your family, friends, community, church, school, organization, or social media audience is one of the most powerful ways to help. The more people who know what is happening, the stronger our response can be.
